Ok, being a little controversial here, but going to throw it out there.
Here is my reasoning:
1. After seeing Escobar's plate approach early this season, I think we have to find at-bats for the young man. HE IS A GAMER!
Obviously, Gardy is hellbent on keeping Dozier in the lineup to prove to himself the kid can't play. So, where else?
2. Escobar is pesky and may be one of our best options at the top of the lineup. Why not throw him in at CF and bat him leadoff? He certainly wouldn't be worse than Aaron Hicks, who is struggling mightily. Also, with Hicks looking so not ready and our already thin outfield growing more thin with Mastroianni's injury, Ramirez's contusion and Willingham's flu, what do we have to lose in a rebuilding year? IF we continue to trot Hicks out there, it is absolutely possible crush his psyche and kill off his professional career.
3. Escobar's arm is great, he has cat-like reflexes, he looked good in LF yesterday, why not let him try CF in Mastroianni's absence? He's every bit the athlete that Hicks is and it seems Eduardo is 10's the hitter that Hicks is at this point. We've trotted out Nick Punto out there and I think Escobar may be an even better option, at least temporarily...
