The Minnesota Twins selected left-handed pitcher Sean Land from the University of Kansas in the ninth round on Tuesday, picking up one of the better pitchers from last summers' Cape Cod League. Land struggled for the Jayhawks this past season, posting a 5-7 record.

In the ninth round, the Twins selected Sean Land of the University of Kansas, picking up a big left-handed pitcher. Kansas has recently dropped out of the NCAA Regional, and hopefully the Twins can get Land to sign soon. Land has shown he can pitch at the elite level of collegiate baseball, starring in the Cape Cod league last summer. He follows fellow Jayhawk Don Czyz, who was drafted by the Marlins in the seventh round.

Land struggled this past season for the Jayhawks, posting a 5-7 record, and had an earned run average of 5.86. He struck out 55 batters in 87.1 innings, and opponents hit .263 against him in his 19 appearances.
