The Snappers had the worst month of any of the Twins affiliates in April, as they struggled on the mound for most of the month. After losing 12 of their first 19 games, the Snappers need to improve on a team earned run average of 5.82. They have gotten some good efforts from their offense, but the pitching, especially their bullpen, has struggled mightily.

After losing 12 of their first 19 games, the Snappers need to improve on a team earned run average of 5.82. They have gotten some good efforts from their offense, but the pitching, especially their bullpen, has struggled mightily.

Ramon Santana was a beast for Beloit in April, as he put together one of the finer months of any prospect in the minor leagues. The infielder batted close to .400, tied for the team lead in runs batted in, and led the team with three home runs. Santana had eight extra-base hits, leading to a .643 slugging, and his ten walks led to an on-base percentage of nearly .500. Only Alexander Soto and Ozzie Lewis would join Santana in the .300 club in April.

Ozzie Lewis, the former Appalachian League Player of the Year, batted .333 in 15 games, and really looked comfortable at the plate. The outfielder picked up nearly a hit per game, and he had four doubles. Soto, who split time with Eli Tintor behind the plate, also batted .333, though he only appeared in ten games. Still, he hit three doubles, smack two home runs, and drove in nine in limited work.

Evan Bigley and Nicholas Romero both came close to hitting .300 in the month, as Bigley joined Soto with nine runs batted in. Romero, who split time between third base and shortstop, tied Santana for the team-high in runs scored (11) and runs batted in (10), while leading the team with three stolen bases.

The team really only got good efforts from two pitchers during the month of April, as starter Bobby Lanigan, and reliever Joe Testa put together a solid start to the season. Lanigan made four starts for Beloit, posting a 3.68 earned run average, and he picked up two wins. Testa, a Wagner College product, appeared in seven games out of the bullpen, and struck out 20 batters in only 13.1 innings of work.

Bradley Tippett did a decent job in a starting role in April, as his earned run average was just a shade above 4.00 in his three starts. He held the opposition to a respectable .235 batting average, while winning once. Though he had a 5.19 earned run average, Daniel Berlind was tough to hit in April, as opponents batted only .212 against him.

Top Prospect Watch: Shooter Hunt, who was supposed to make a short stay in Beloit in 2009, has gotten out of the gates slowly, and may stay with the team longer than expected. In four starts, the top prospect has a 10.80 earned run average, though that is mainly due to a lack of command. Hitters are batting only .225 against him, but it is his 23 walks in 11.2 innings of work that has killed him this season.
