Tyler Robertson: Starting Pitcher, Beloit SnappersWhen the Beloit Snappers lost Jeff Manship to a promotion to Fort Myers, the Twins brass figured that the team would take a hit as far as starting pitching goes. However, Tyler Robertson had other ideas, as he has stepped into the role of staff ace for the Snappers. Now arms with three great starting pitchers, including Cole Devries, Alex Burnett, and Robertson, the Snappers look like they may have the best three starting pitchers in the Midwest League.
Sure Robertson was solid coming into the month of July, but since he entered the month, he has been nearly untouchable. Not only is he getting strikeouts, but he has shown poise beyond his young years. Next season, it is a given that Robertson should be one of the better pitchers in the Florida State League.
One look into his July statistics and it is clear why he won TwinCitiesDugout.com July Pitcher of the Month honors. The young left-hander has been nearly unhittable, and has proven to be an innings eater.
For the month of July, Robertson made six starts, notching a perfect 4-0 record in those outings. In total, Robertson posted a 1.12 earned run average, and held the opposition to a .211 batting average. A great strikeout pitcher, Robertson struck out 43 batters in 40.1 innings of work, and can now be considered one of the better left-handed starting pitching prospects in the Twins organization.
For the season, Robertson has posted a 7-2 record for Beloit, and has collected a very tiny 2.00 earned run average. He has appeared in 13 games for the Twins Midwest League affiliate, making 12 starts, and has a complete game to go under his belt.
In 76.1 innings of work, Robertson has struck out 84 batters, and has held the opposition to a .224 batting average. He is quickly becoming one of the premier starters in the Midwest League.
Honorable Mention: Julio DePaula (14G, 1.28 ERA, 24 K, 25.1IP), Kevin Slowey (4GS, 2.67 ERA, 2-1, CG, SHO, .228 BAA), Timothy Lahey (1.08 ERA, 11G, 2-1, 7 SV), Jeff Manship (6 GS, 4-2, 2.13 ERA, 39K, 38.0IP), Alex Burnett (5 GS, 1.50 ERA, 30.0 IP, 28K, .206 BAA), Aaron Craig (9G, 0.77ERA, 2-0, .222 BAA)
