The Twins organization made a handful of moves on Sunday, as the team got rid of beleagured starter Sidney Ponson. To fill Ponson's spot, the Twins called up Rochester slugger Garrett Jones, who was recently named Twins Minor League Player of the Month. Jones is a power hitter left-handed stick, who can play both first base, and the outfield. Jones was currently batting .305 for the Wings through the first 30 games of the season.

To fill Jones' spot on the Rochester lineup, the Wings received infielder Gil Velazquez from Double-A New Britain. Velazquez appeared in 17 games for the Rock Cats, batting .267 with 13 runs batted in. He appeared in 56 games for the Rochester Red Wings last season.

In other news, Rochester reliever Mike Venafro was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Venafro appeared in 12 games out of the Rochester bullpen, posting a 5.40 earned run average with one run.
