Here is a look at Who's Hot in the Twins organization as of late. This is not a list of the best…
Rochester Red Wings Awards: April
The Rochester Red Wings finished off a very successful month of April with a 12-4 record, by getting solid starting pitching, and some timely hitting from their lineup.Player of the Month: Jose Morales, C14 G, 4.08 BA, 9 R, 5 2B, HR, 6 RBI, 20 HMorales, who was currently named International League Batter of the Week, has been on a tear for Rochester, and had provided some surprising pop in the Red Wings batting order. He is currently second in the league with a .408 batting average, and is currently enjoying a six-game hitting streak. In that span, Morales has four multi-hit games, including two straight three-hit nights, and has raised his average from .276 to his current mark. On April 29, Morales went 3-3, stroking three doubles, while scoring twice. He could be the catching prospect the Twins have been waiting for.Honorable Mention: Garrett Jones (.338, 3 HR), Trent Oeltjen (.318, 3 SB), Matt Tolbert (.340 10R)Slump of the Month: Matt Moses, 3B15 G, .182 BA, 2 RBI, 15 KMoses, who is one of the better hitting prospects in the Twins organization, struggled in his first month with the Rochester Red Wings. The young third baseman, who is only 22 years old, hit only .083 against left-handed pitching, something he needs to figure out soon. He should be able to bounce back from his recent woes, though some are already calling for his demotion to Double-A New Britain. Way too early for that.Pitcher of the Month: Kevin Slowey, SP4 G, 4 GS, 3-0, 1.05 ERA, 25.2 IP, 28 K, 2 BBSlowey could be ready for the Major Leagues, as he has been arguably the most dominant pitcher in the International League in 2007. He continues to showcase pinpoint control, walking only two batters this season, and always gives the Red Wings a chance to win a game. He is striking out better than a batter per inning, and has struck out eight or better in each of his last three starts. He is currently third in the IL in earned run average (1.05), has led the Red Wings to the third best overall ERA in the league. Some argue he is more ready to be an everyday starter in the Major Leagues than Matt Garza or Scott Baker.Honorable Mention: Scott Baker (1.57 ERA, 23 K in 23 IP), Jeremy Cummings (5G, 1.50 ERA), Matt Garza (4 GS, 2.84 ERA)Slump of the Month: Tristan Crawford. RP3 G, 10.12 ERA, Demotion to Double-AHis stint in Rochester was short-lived, as Crawford quickly got the hook to Double-A New Britain. He is a good relief pitcher, who just needs more seasoning in the Eastern League. If he can figure his stuff out, then he should be back with Rochester very soon.
