The Minnesota Twins cut their active roster to 49 players on Tuesday, as Errol Simonitsch and Jose Mijares were optioned to Minor League camp. The Twins still need to trim 24 players off their roster before Opening Day, and they will likely be down to around 35 players by the end of the week.

Left-handed starter Errol Simonitsch was optioned to Rochester of the International League, after appearing in three games for the Twins this Spring. Simonitsch did not allow an earned run in his four innings of work, and struck out four batters.

Mijares was optioned to Double-A New Britain, where he will likely be in the team's rotation. Mijares appeared in one game for the Twins this Spring out of the bullpen, picking up a save in one innings worth of work. He struck out one in the outing. Recommended Stories
