Slowey To Appear In AFL Showcase

Slowey has posted a 2.00 ERA in five games.

The Twins have one of the best farm systems in baseball, and on Friday, one of their crown jewels will be on display. Right-hander Kevin Slowey will be the only Twins representative in the Arizona Fall Leagues first "Rising Star Showcase".

Kevin Slowey is the only member of the Minnesota Twins organization who will be participating in the inagural "Rising Stars Showcase" on Friday, October 27. The game will be held at Surprise Stadium, and will showcase some of the best talent that the Arizona Fall League has to offer. Slowey is one of nine Solar Sox to appear on the East roster.

Slowey really put himself on the map this past season, moving from being one of the best pitchers in the Florida State League, to making nine solid starts for the New Britain Rock Cats. In only his second season in the Twins organization, Slowey is on the brink of becoming a Major League caliber player, and some within the organization believe that the young right-hander will get his shot this upcoming season.

Slowey was named the Most Valuable Pitcher in this past season's Florida State League All-Star Game, as he baffled hitters during the classic. That was something Slowey would do during his entire time in the Florida State League, as he teamed with Matt Garza to form the best 1-2 punch in the league.

Garza cracked the Twins Major League roster this past season.

Slowey has appeared in five games for the Mesa Solar Sox during his first season in the Arizona Fall League, and has looked great once again, posting a 2.00 earned run average. He has also picked up a save in his nine innings of work.
