Jacque Jones plans on declining the Twins' arbitration offer, as he has many multi-year deals on the table. A mainstay in the Twins lineup since 1999, Jones has been a Minnesota Twins his entire career, but has plans to go elsewhere. As for the Twins, they should recieve a draft pick as compensation for the 30-year old slugger.

Jacque Jones, a mainstay in the Minnesota Twins’ outfield the past seven years, plans to reject the Twins arbitration offer. This move signals the end of Jones’ career with the Twins, and now General Manager Terry Ryan must put himself into overdrive to get a replacement. Jones hit .249 for the Twins in 2005, and led the team with 24 home runs.

The Twins were interested in signing Jones to a one-year deal, but his Agent Dan Lozano said he has many multi-year offers on the table. The front-runner seems to be the Kansas City Royals, who offered the slugger a three-year, 15 million dollar deal, although Jones has said he would prefer to play for a contender. If Jones does latch on with another team, the Twins should receive a draft pick from that team.

Jones has been with the Twins since breaking into the Major League in 1999. The 30-year old was on pace to put up career-highs in power numbers in 2005, but an injury cut his season short. He was one of the main reasons why the Twins’ won back-to-back-to-back American League Central Titles from 2002-2004.
